How to Reset a Skoda Key
I just received a message that my infotainment device is low on battery and has to be replaced. This isn't the first time and last time I went to a dealer they just replaced it for free, took about 2 mins and said it would work again.
Switch the ignition ON and mechanically lock the car. Press the unlock button on the remote control 5 times at 1 second intervals. A short horn tone will be heard.
EEPROM Method
If your car key stops working, it may take some time for a professional to reprogramme it. In many cases, this means reading the EEPROM to find the unique code for the particular car. This is a risky process, and there's a high possibility of destroying the data in the module. This is the reason it's best to leave it to an expert locksmith.
An EEPROM (non-volatile) memory is utilized in a broad variety of electronic devices like car keys. It stores information that includes the unique authentication codes and encryption keys that your car recognizes when you use it to unlock or start the vehicle. These codes are crucial because they let the car know that you have the correct key and are authorised to drive it.
If your EEPROM is corrupted, the keys will cease to function. The issue is caused by pressing the wrong key or accidentally hitting the wrong key. It is possible to reset the key using an appropriate tool. However this method might not work. It is recommended to hire an expert with years of knowledge of programming keys for automobiles.
To reset your EEPROM, you must first remove the Kessy module from the vehicle. It's located over the accelerator pedal on the left side of the car. With a screwdriver, remove the single plastic clip that holds it in place. Then, you can unplug the two electrical connectors and remove it from the vehicle. Then, you can access the EEPROM by using a SOIC8 and micro pincers attached to the programmer. Once you have the data, you can save it as a file and then write it back into the EEPROM.
You can make use of a program like PonyProg to read the EEPROM data. Click on Read Device. The EEPROM dump appears as an array of hexadecimal characters. Three hex values stand out for the KEY_CODE (key_code), the key_count (key_count) and the V_ARG_ENABLED. To "virginize" the chip, change the other hex values to the number 00. Once you have done this you are able to flash the chip to restore its functionality.
Ignition Method
This method involves activating the car's security system with another key. It might not work for all cars, but it can reset the key fob when it isn't working or the battery has died. It is also possible to reset the key fob when the buttons have been pushed hard (a common reason for this is when people try to push down the unlock button a few times).
To apply this method to use this method, turn on the ignition and leave it on. Then, mechanically lock the door of the driver's side with another key. Then, rotate the key fob back to its lock position and aim it at the transmission receiver located in the front of the car above the mirror. Press the unlock button for a few minutes. The horn should sound, and the key fob should begin working.
If the skoda keys don't work it could be because the transmitter inside has become corrupted or is not in sync with the vehicle's theft-deterrent system. If this is the case, it will need to be reprogrammed. A locksmith or technician can assist you with this.
If the key fob is not working after reprogramming, it may be that the car has "forgotten" the key (if the vehicle hasn't used in six months). You can try the resync procedure in the user's manual take off the cap and lock from the driver's side door and unlock the car using the key. The key should be able to sync again. key, but if it doesn't, you'll need to visit the dealers. This usually happens with keys that have lost their function and takes less than two minutes to complete.
Keyless Entry Method
The new generation of keyless entry systems - the ones that are included in the latest OCTAVIA as well as electric ENYAQ iV vehicles - has one ingenious safety feature that blocks thieves from "signal extension". A signal is sent to the vehicle and then to the key, which has to respond within a specified time. If the key fails to respond, the car cannot be unlocked and starts to ring its alarms.

The car can also tell the key is near by with a sensor located in the door handle. It works by sending a signal to the key's internal coil, that then responds by sending a signal to the sensor. If the sensor detects it, the car will unlock itself and switch on the interior lights automatically, if configured to do this.
Even older keyless entry systems have a backup. If the remote does not work, you may unlock the door for the driver mechanically by slipping out the blade or, in some models, by pressing down on a button inside the door pocket. This is especially helpful when you've lost your keys or if the battery has gone out.
Remote Control Method
If you've recently purchased an entirely new remote control but it's not working in your car, it's likely that the seller did not program it to match your car. It could be that the battery terminals are loose (look for this, they could feel a bit loose to the touch and may be soldered in the wrong place) and carefully soldering them back in place should restore your key fob to working order. If you're not sure about this kind repair, you should consult an expert auto technician.
skoda octavia keys locked in car off the ignition and lock the vehicle from inside with a second key that is not in the same position (this will reset memory position 1). Enter channel "01" (may be channel "21" in certain Audi models). Insert the new key fob in the door of the driver and press its unlock button twice in 5 minutes (often enough to reach the next memory position).
Repeat this procedure for up 4 additional remote controls. Make sure you turn off the ignition in between programming each remote. You should hear a tone each time you successfully program the remote.
